Display Size and Quality

Display Size and Quality - RCA Galileo Pro Review

The 1st thing that I will cover in this RCA Galileo Review is the display which is the first thing that you will notice when you pop this baby out of the box. Perhaps the most important thing about a touch screen device is the size of the display and the quality of the screen itself. Honestly speaking the display is nothing out of this world but is good enough for anyone who wants to get themselves a low-budget yet solid performing 2-in-1 touch screen device.

The screen is quite large and measures about 11.5-inch. With a display resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, the images might not be as sharp as you would expect from a flagship device from a well-known manufacturer but are quite good for the price at which the RCA Galileo Pro sells. If you want some more alternative options for budget-friendly Android tablets then I have got a list for them that you can check.

The multi-touch screen is very responsive and using it feels as smooth as butter. You should have no trouble editing some pictures, photos, and videos with third-party apps on this device which is always a good thing for people who like to travel and share their adventures.

Probably the best thing about the RCA Galileo Pro is its 2-in-1 feature. When in laptop mode, the screen feels big enough and gives you enough space and area to work and multitask. The IPS display panel took me by surprise since I did not expect to see IPS technology on a low-budget 2-in-1 tablet at this price. The viewing angles are quite good and you can expect sharp images and clear pictures.

Overall speaking, if you frequently want to enjoy a movie or a TV series, then you should absolutely have no trouble and this thing is an absolutely handy tablet for vacations if you want some entertainment. Otherwise, the low pixel density might disappoint some people who want a device to read books online.

ROM and Internal Storage

In earlier days a few gigs of storage was enough to get by with anything but with a better camera, picture quality and modern applications, a device with low storage does not cut it these days. It is always good to have a good amount of storage on your device for the future.

The RCA Galileo Pro offers you 32 GB of internal storage out of the box. Although the system apps and operating systems will take up a portion of the 32 GB of storage, you are left with enough to store all your data, pictures, and videos.

Fortunately, the RCA Galileo Pro has a micro SD card slot to upgrade your storage space later on if you need to. In reality, even 32 GB is a lot less nowadays but considering the low RCA Galileo Pro price, I will let this slide because you always have the option to use a micro SD card. If you want to spend a bit more on storage space and features I recommend looking at some of my choices for tablets under the 200 dollar mark.

Processor

Just like any other computing device, the processor or the CPU is the heart of it. A fast processor from a reputable manufacturer will let you get your work done more quickly.

The RCA 11 Galileo Pro is powered by a quad-core processor from MTK or MediaTek which is quite good in my opinion. MediaTek processors have recently changed the game when it comes to smartphones and mobile devices.

While most budget tablets are stuck with dual-core processors, the Galileo Pro has a quad-core one which means faster processing speeds and multitasking abilities, and the power to run new applications and software.

I tried editing some videos and photos with this device and the results were pretty great. The rendering time was a bit slow but not that much and stutters and lags were occasional.

The processor cores are clocked at 1.3 GHz speed making the RCA Galileo Pro one of the best budget tablets for gaming. If you want more options on tablets that are specifically meant for gaming you can check out my own list.

RAM

The only aspect where the RCA 11 Galileo Pro falls short is the amount of RAM it has. Let’s be honest here, 1 GB RAM will not suffice many in this era of technology. Multitasking is an integral part of getting anything done on an android device.

Unfortunately, just like I said, the RCA Galileo Pro is only equipped with 1 GB of memory or RAM. I tried using this tablet for a few days, multitasking is surely possible on this thing but I will not say it is very breezy. About 2 GB of RAM would have been better in my opinion but I can understand why they had to stick with 1 GB which is obviously to cut cost.

As far as RAM goes, I would recommend getting the Dragon Touch K10 Notepad if you want a little bit more multitasking power since it comes with 2 GB of RAM. You can check my review for the Dragon touch K10 Notepad here on TechCompact.

If you do plan to buy this device then it is worth it and should be enough for some light gaming, productivity tasks, playing music, streaming videos, and watching movies. One good thing to know is the fact that the DDR SDRAM is optimized for a faster performance and better transfer rates which is far better than its predecessors.

Software and Operating System

Software and Operating System - Honest Review of RCA Galileo Pro

The RCA Galileo Pro is a bit outdated since it runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow version but there is nothing to worry about since the tablet already comes with all the newest functionality and upgrades that you would expect from an Android device running the latest Android OS version.

The interface is quite user-friendly and one would have no trouble using the OS and the UI for operating the device. The absence of any bloatware on this device is a great thing it will not tend to slow down because of unnecessary applications. Overall, the stock android experience is great with this device.

Build Quality And Design

Build Quality And Design - RCA Galileo Review

Quality is something that we all expect when we buy something such as a new device and thankfully, the RCA Galileo Pro lives up to my expectations. Although the entire thing is constructed from mainly plastic, which is obvious considering the price, the thing is quite hardy and sturdy.

The thing feels quite heavy and feels durable when touched. In terms of design aspects, there is nothing much to say as the tablet looks just like any other budget tablet which is a rectangle with a selfie camera at the top middle.

One thing does not like about the tablet is that the bezels are a bit too thick which makes the thing look a bit uglier and makes the touchscreen seem smaller than it actually is. The RCA Galileo Pro weighs about 2.9 pounds making it very lightweight even for the full plastic build.

While we are talking about aesthetics and design, the RCA Galileo Pro is available in multiple different exciting colors including the original black, blue, pink, purple, and even maroon.

A lighter tablet means that is highly portable and less of a hassle to carry around. If you are in school or college then this is a great budget buy if you currently can not afford a laptop or a computer. if you want some of my recommendations on some of the best tablets for students then you got to check my list out. Measuring about 11.81 in x 7.54 in x 1.16 in, the tablet easily fits into any backpack and is also great for travelers who want a companion for nonstop entertainment.

Battery and Backup

Now let’s head on to the RCA Galileo Pro Battery Review. These kinds of 2-in-1 tablets are always meant for people who are always on the go and need access to a powerful yet portable device. Another aspect that comes to play here is the battery backup of the device and thankfully the RCA Galileo Pro 11.5 delivers in this department too.

The tablet is powered by a Lithium-Ion battery which takes only about 4 to 5 hours to reach full charge. I did not really expect to see fancy features like quick charging but the charging time way too much in my opinion. Spending a bit more on a better tablet with a better battery backup is always a good option and you can check my list of some of the best tablets for under 300 dollars.

Under normal usage, the battery of the RCA Galileo Pro can last a while with an impressive backup time of 5 to 6 hours. Under heavy usage, the battery will obviously run out faster but you always have the option to carry the included charger with you.

Connectivity Options And Ports

As I previously mentioned, the RCA Galileo Pro comes with a micro SD card slot for upgrading your memory storage capacity but it is not only limited to that. 2-in-1 tablets these days come with amazing connectivity options which are also true for this budget one.

Apart from the micro SD card slot, the tablet comes with a single micro-USB port which can be used to connect an external mouse or a keyboard to the tablet when it is in laptop mode. On the side of the tablet, you can also found the volume rockers along with the power button placed just beside it.

Other input and output ports include the mandatory 3.5 mm audio jack for connecting your headphones and earphones, a USB power port to juice up the battery of the Galileo Pro in any mode whether it be tablet or laptop mode.

Another great thing that you will notice on the device is a mini HDMI port behind the USB power port which can be used to hook up the tablet with an external display like a TV or a monitor.

Features

Detachable Keyboard of RCA Galileo Pro

Just out of the box the first thing that you will notice is the tablet itself and a keyboard included with it. The 2-in-1 tablet comes with a detachable keyboard which you can attach and remove anytime you want.

Attaching the keyboard will allow you to use the tablet in laptop mode and when you remove it, you can use it just like any other android tablet. It is very handy to have a keyboard to type with into your device which is obvious and turns this device into one of the best things to have for office purposes or when you are on tours and need to get your work done.

The keyboard might not be the best one out there but it surely is very comfortable and typing on this thing is a much better experience the tapping at small letters on the display of the device. The crazy thing is that for not even a hundred dollars you can experience what it is like to work on a laptop. To see my list of some other cheap tablets under 150 dollars you can check my website.

Conclusion – Is the RCA Galileo Pro worth Buying?

Now that you have reached the end of the Review of RCA Galileo Pro, I would like to point out that even if the device has got some flaws and poor screen quality, it is a great choice to go with if you are going to buy a budget-friendly Android device. The best thing is that this device can also serve as an alternative to a laptop which is very helpful for the most part.
